The uncertainty beclouding school resumption in Kaduna state due to security challenge engrosed with rampant pupils and students mass abduction, parents have now, resorted to vocational training for their children.
New Agency of Nigeria NAN, reports that on 6th August, Kaduna state government had indefinitely postponed school resumption.
This measure according to the authority was to safeguard pupils and students following series of attack and abductions in schools accross Kaduna communities.
A father of two, Ibrahim Yusuf confirmed to NAN how he took his children to his welding and fabrication workshop to learn the skill. However, he advised government to utilize media in educating children from home.
“It is important to give children education and teach them vocational skills; that is why I am using this opportunity to teach my children since they can’t be in school,’’ he said.
For Mr. Abel Steven he lectures his children when he returns home and give them assignment to keep them busy.
Mrs. Hauwa Muhammad enrol her child into a tailoring schol and she commended the state government for taking proactive measures to ensure that schoolchildren were safe and urged the government to do more in enhancing security.
