Ahead of the Councillorship and Chairmanship elections into the 255 Wards and 23 Local Government Councils slated for Saturday, 19th October 2024, the Kaduna State Security Council has imposed a restriction of movement throughout the State from 6am to 7pm on the said date.

“This is to ensure peaceful, orderly conduct of the elections,” said Samuel Aruwan.

In a Statement by Aruwan, Overseeing Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, he said: vehicular movement, as well as commercial and other related activities which may constitute impediments to law and order are to cease within the period of the restriction (6am to 7pm on Saturday).

“Only persons performing essential duties are exempt from this restriction, and may move during the period with proper identification and clearance.

“Citizens are thus advised to refrain from actions that could disrupt public peace or affect smooth conduct of the elections. Security agencies have been deployed to ensure enforcement and compliance.

“Members of the general public are also urged to promptly report any observed acts which threaten law and order to security agencies, and not take laws into their hands. The Kaduna State Security Operations Room is reachable for this purpose on the following lines:
