Major General Christopher Tsiga, the erstwhile Commander of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai, is still in captivity 29 days after he was abducted by terrorists.

Sources close to the military confirmed that efforts to secure his release have not yielded the desired result.

General Tsiga was kidnapped on February 7, 2023, in his hometown of Lokoja, Kogi State.

The abductors, who were later identified as Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters, have been demanding a ransom and the release of some of their members in custody.

The military has been working to secure his release, but the negotiations have been slow, sources said.

The General’s abduction has raised concerns about the growing insecurity in the country and the increasing audacity of terrorist groups.

The military has not officially commented on the General’s abduction or the efforts to secure his release.
