A Federal High Court, Abuja, today, dismissed the suit filled since 2019, seeking to challenge former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s eligibility to vie for the office of the president.
Delivering judgment, Justice Inyang Ekwo, dismissed the suit on the grounds that the plaintiff that instituted the case lacked the legal right to do so.
A group had sued Atiku Abubakar, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Attorney General of the Federation as 1st to 4th respondents respectively.
The group is challenging Atiku’s eligibility to contest for presidency on the grounds that he was not a Nigerian citizen by birth.
In a related news, a presidential aspirant and National Leader of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, said no amount of blackmail or intimidation can stop his quest for the presidency in 2023.
Tinubu said this when he visited the Olubadan of Ibadan, Lekan Balogun, to seek his blessings for his presidential ambition.
