Hadiza Bala Usman, special adviser to President Tinubu on policy and coordination, has expressed concern about NNPC’s failure to meet key milestones crucial to President Tinubu’s administration’s goals.

During a review of the quarterly performance of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Usman pointed out that despite “mechanical completion” of the refinery in December 2023, and assurances of production after Christmas, NNPC postponed the start of operations to April 2024 and there is no update so far.

Government is also concerned about various unmet targets related to crude oil production and delivery of AKK and OB3 gas projects. The delays are eroding confidence in government
