Buhari inaugurates section 3 of Kano-Maiduguri road

President Muhammadu Buhari has today inaugurated the 106.341-kilometer Kano-Maiduguri Road, Section 3 Azare-Potiskum linking Bauchi and Yobe States.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that the President inaugurated the completed Section 3 of the giant road project in Azare, Headquarters of Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

President Muhammadu Buhari, represented by Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Maryam Yalwaji Katagum, said the project was part of his administration’s commitment to provide quality road infrastructure in the country.

President Buhari urged motorists and other road users to ensure effective utilization of the road, protect it and report any damage to the appropriate authorities.

In his remarks, Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, said the road would link Bauchi and Yobe States, adding that it would spur development of economic activities.

In another news, President Muhammadu Buhari, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, a former President Olusegun Obasanjo and a former head of state Abdulsalami Abubakar have laid the foundation for the Kaduna Centre for the Study of Christian-Muslim Relations.

The centre would ensure understanding, mutual engagement, mutual contribution and mutual support aimed at promoting peace among faithful of the two religions.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the centre yesterday in Kaduna, President Buhari said religious crises have over the years caused untold hardship and suspicion among Nigerians, stressing that the centre would receive government support.

The president, represented by the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Uwajiuba, said the centre was indeed a foundation for peace and that completing it would require courage, commitment and resilience.
