Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has introduced new state-of-the-art sweeping trucks and restored thirty sweeping motorcycles as part of the government’s initiative, named “Operation Nazafa.”
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Monday.
During the ceremony, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf pledged to settle the outstanding entitlements of casual and temporary workers affected during the previous administration’s tenure at the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board.
Yusuf assured the affected individuals that the present administration is dedicated to resolving their pending dues and directed the relevant authorities to furnish a comprehensive list for immediate action.
Applauding the commitment of Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago, the Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board, Governor Yusuf reiterated the government’s commitment to collaborating with individuals who are focused on serving the community.
In addressing the neglected vehicles acquired during the previous administration, Governor Yusuf commended the innovative efforts of Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago and local engineers in revitalizing the fleet using minimal resources, a departure from the previous approach of outsourcing repairs.
In his statement, Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago expressed gratitude for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s unwavering support towards the board, enabling them to refurbish sweeping trucks and tricycles for enhanced waste disposal efficiency under Operation Nazafa.
He emphasized the improved capabilities of the trucks, each now capable of performing the work equivalent to twenty individuals, significantly advancing Kano’s cleanliness objectives.
