Kano State pilgrims currently participating in the 2024 holy pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia have offered special prayers to God for peace, security, and economic transformation in the state.
The prayers took place during their gathering at the plain of Mount Arafat, Makkah, on Saturday.
According to Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Head of the Media Team for Hajj 2024 and spokesperson for the Deputy Governor, prominent Islamic scholars led by Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, Sheikh Jamilu Alqadiri, Dr Ali Quraysh and Dr. Sani Ashir conducted the prayers.
The scholars prayed to Allah to guide the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sunusi II, to the right path, asking for wisdom and strength to confront the challenges facing the state and its citizens.
Ibrahim noted that cleric after cleric at the gathering prayed for peace and stability of the State.
The gathering was attended by top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Hon. Yusuf Jibril Falgore, members of the state House of Assembly, Head of Service Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, Grand Khadi Dr Tijjani Yusuf Yakasai, Centre Officers from 44 LGAs and officials from the pilgrims’ board led by Chairman of the board, Alhaji Yusuf lawal and Director General of the board Alhaji Lamin Rabiu Danbappa.
The pilgrims also prayed for the success of the present administration and the protection of the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, as well as members of the State and National Assembly from the state.
The State Amir-ul-Hajj and Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, congratulated the pilgrims on the successful conduct of their prayers at Mount Arafat and urged them to uphold the ethics and qualities expected of their new status.
After completing the Arafat rites, the pilgrims will proceed to Muzdalifah, where they will observe Salatul Maghrib and Ishai, pick 49 pebbles, and cast the first set of seven pebbles on Sunday, the tenth of Dhul-Hijjah. They then returned to their Muna tents.
