No fewer than 15 young students have been reported dead and several others injured in a major fire outbreak in a building housing a coaching centre in the Surat town in western state of Gujarat on Friday.
According to reports made available to Xinhua there were around 50 students inside the coaching centre in the “Takshila Commercial Complex” when the fire broke out.
Some students inside the ill-fated building were seen via television footages trying to jump out from the fourth floor building in a bid to escape the fire.
The young students sustained various degree of injuries as a result of jumping from the fourth floor, and have been admitted at local hospital for emergency treatment.
Available reports had it that firefighters have since doused the fire.
Authorities in Gujarat are still investigating the incident as at time of fielding this report.
