Sometimes in mid 2020 in the hike of kidnapping and banditry, I granted an interview in Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, alluding to illiteracy and rural rurality among the founding genesis of the predicament. But the exercerbation of barbaric killings rampaging our country, especially, the recent anticidents in the South East, South West, Benue, Kaduna and Plaeau states calls for my analogical rethink.
With each additional incidence we are evidently inching closer to becoming South Africans; that is, if you do not take away the rampage and looting of properties at the slightest trigger. This brings me to the conclusion that something else must be wrong with the brain of many Nigerians because the problem seems more of psychological than otherwise. On the other hand, why would the South Africans deem it logical and compelling to spare the Nigerians in their land when ourselves we are fast becoming a textbook example of intolerance, loathe and distrust; a society which lawlessness, hate, bloodthirstiness has quietly eating up her delightfulness, humanity and existentialism?
The recent incidence in Jos is utterly condemnable and is an evidence of sheer barbarism.
This nation whose people including intellectuals and religious leaders have become champions of manipulation, radicalization and instigation of violence needs a total overhaul of its national orientation; socio-political, culture and socialization, the starting point of which is debatable though.
Anyway consciousness they say, when it escapes you it doesn’t say goodbye !
