Two killed in farmers-herdsmen clashes in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has said that at least two persons were killed in a clash between farmers and herdsmen in the state.

Spokesman of the command, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed this in a statement issued to newsmen.

He said the incident occurred in Taura local government area.

Meanwhile, Shisu Adam also revealed that similar incident happened at Gandun Galadima in the Malam Madori Local Government Area.

He said as a result of the incident, five persons sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to Hadejia General Hospital for medical attention.

He added that a 30-year-old Yakubu Saleh of Gandun Sarki was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The spokesman said five suspects were arrested in connection to the case.

In another news, the Police in Jigawa have arrested seven suspects during raids on black spots and hideouts for criminals in Birninkudu and Gwaram Local Government Areas.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria today in Dutse.

Shiisu Adam said three of the suspects, aged between 20 and 28, were arrested in Babaldu Village, Birninkudu Local Government Area when a police patrol team raided black spots and hideouts for criminals in the area.

He explained that 85 wraps of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp, 136 assorted tablets of illicit drugs, 24 pieces of rubber solution, popularly known as ‘sholisho’, and one knife were recovered during the raids.

Shiisu Adam added that investigation is ongoing after which the suspects would be charged to court.
