
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar has expressed Nigeria’s readiness to provide Spain with best returns when they invest in Nigeria’s aviation and defense sector
This was during his visit to Airbus Operations Facility in Getafe, Madrid, Spain, as part of his official tour.
A statement by his Media Aide Alkasim Abdulkadir says, the Getafe facility, is the largest industrial site in Spain, which plays a key role in Airbus’ global operations.
During the visit, the Foreign Affairs Minister held discussions with key Airbus Executives that focus on Airbus’ interest in collaborating with Nigeria beyond trade, while advocating for localized investments and workforce development to boost employment in Nigeria.
Alkasim says, Airbus representatives highlighted their aircraft offerings for Nigeria’s transport, humanitarian and defence needs. Specifically, they promoted the C295, a multi-purpose aircraft adaptable for various missions.
Yusuf Tuggar however urges Airbus to move beyond aircraft sales and consider establishing a maintenance hub in Nigeria, citing the nation’s status as a regional security hub for peacekeeping operations in Africa, according to the statement.
