In a swift response, troops from Sector 4 MNJTF successfully thwarted an attempted attack by Boko Haram on Monday, March 19th, at approximately 1250 hours local time.

The terrorists reportedly attempted to use a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) during the attack.  However, the prompt and decisive action by Sector 4 troops deterred the militants, forcing them to abandon the VBIED, a rocket gun and two motorcycles before fleeing southwards.

There are concerns that the insurgents may have crossed the border into Nigeria. Niger troops are currently pursuing the fleeing terrorists. No casualties have been reported.
