A non-governmental organization Empowering Women for Excellence Initiatives, EWEI has in preparation for the implementation of its project, the Together We Can (TWC), conducted an initial and consultative visits to the two communities where the project will be implemented.
The purpose of these meetings, according to the organization “was to secure required support from community leaders and stakeholders in the designated areas of implementation,”
The leaders and stakeholders of both communities visited, “expressed their support and anticipation for the forthcoming project implementation,” EWEI explained.
The overarching goal of the Together We Can project is to offer mental health and psychosocial support, counseling, economic empowerment, and post-violence assistance to marginalised women and girls experiencing intersectional discrimination, along with survivors of gender-based violence in the prolonged crisis regions of Kaduna State
It could be recalled, in late November, 2023, a press statement issued by Racheal Ogbonna, the Project Director of Together We Can at EWEI disclosed: the “Together We Can Project (TWC) is supported by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women,”
She added, “it is a 3-year project spanning November 2023 to October 2026.
The statement read in parts, “The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund) is the only global grant making mechanism dedicated exclusively to addressing all forms of violence against women and girls at local and national levels.”
