Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has come out swinging in defence of President Bola Tinubu’s reform efforts, claiming that critics of the president’s reform agenda are motivated by jealousy and should be considered enemies of Nigeria.
Umahi made these comments on the sidelines of an investigative public hearing by the Senate Committee on Works in Abuja on Friday.
He expressed confidence that the current reform efforts will ultimately reposition the economy for the better.
Regarding the controversy surrounding the Lagos-Calabar coastal project, Umahi attributed the criticism to “envy and jealousy.”
He praised President Tinubu’s commitment to continuing projects initiated by his predecessor, saying, “Mr. President had this dream of making Nigeria better for the past 25 years as a governor and now God has given him the opportunity to serve the country and to actualize his dream so he has no choice than to perform.”
Umahi also highlighted the potential benefits of the coastal road project, stating that it will serve as a catalyst for growth in every state across the country.
He explained that the diversion of the road at the 16-kilometre mark was necessary due to the presence of an African communication cable.
In a separate statement, Umahi had previously argued that President Tinubu has solved the major problem of the Igbo people by resolving the issue of farmers/herders clashes.
