The Bauchi State Shariah Commission has summoned Dr. Abdallah Gadon-Ƙaya, a well-known Islamic cleric from Kano, following his claims about a suspected gay and lesbian event in Bauchi, WikkiTimes reports.
In a video circulating on social media, Dr. Gadon-Ƙaya alleged that a group of gays and lesbians from across northern Nigeria gathered at an undisclosed hotel in Bauchi for a 10-day orientation. He claimed that the group paid approximately N100,000,000 for the venue.
Although Dr. Gadon-Ƙaya has not provided specific details about the event’s date or location, he has stated his readiness to present evidence.
In response, Professor Hamisu Dass, Chairman of the Shariah Commission, confirmed that Dr. Gadon-Ƙaya has been invited to Bauchi to provide more information.
The Commission has already investigated the hotel where the event reportedly occurred.
While the Shariah Commission has yet to disclose the results of its investigation, Professor Dass emphasized that anyone found involved in such activities will face legal consequences.
He affirmed that the Commission, responsible for the administration and enforcement of Shariah Law, will not tolerate violations.
Dr. Gadon-Ƙaya has been a vocal critic of LGBTQ issues, particularly following Nigeria’s endorsement of the SAMOA Agreement, which addresses such topics.
