Barely 24 hours after 17 persons were killed at Gonar-Rogo village, another eight persons have been reported killed in a fresh attack on three communities in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
The fresh attacks on the three villages bordering Gonar-Rogo took place Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, according to witnesses.
President of the Adara Development Association (ADA), Mr. Awema Maisamari, told newsmen that, the latest attack took place in Bakin- Kogi, Idanu and Makyali communities.
According to him, “the attack on Makyali community took place at about 7am on Wednesday, leading to the killing of seven people while the attacks on Bakin Kogi and Idanu took place on Tuesday at about 7pm. The attackers, who were well armed, killed five people on the spot, while the corpses of two others were found in the bushes,”
According to him, one person was killed in Idanu and two others seriously injured while in Bakin Kogi, no life was lost as the villagers escaped, but their houses were burnt.
“The situation report as at this morning (Wednesday) is that the terrorists attacked three other settlements near Gonar- Rogo village, where 17 people were killed in the early hours of Tuesday. In Bakin Kogi, the villagers escaped but several houses were burnt down. At the second village called Idanu, one person was killed and two others injured. The attacks in Idanu and Bakin Kogi took place on Tuesday around 7pm. “At a village called Makyali along Kachia road, seven people were killed when the herdsmen attacked the community around 7am today (Wednesday). Five people were killed on the spot, two corpses were later recovered in the bushes, bringing the dead toll in the village to seven. Some people also sustained injuries,” he said.
Meanwhile, efforts to get police confirmation of the attacks were abortive, as Kaduna state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, did not respond to several calls put across to him.
