In what appears like a coup factional clerics in Kano has replaced Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil with Sheikh Saleh Pakistan as Chairman of Kano State Council of Ulama.
Sheikh Khalil was sometimes reported lamenting how plots are ongoing to sap him of the position for political rivalry possibly between him and the state government.
Sheikh Khalil was once Special Adviser to the state government on special duty during its first tenure but resigned the position “on personal ground” which may not be unconnected to politics since then he has been in loggerhead with the government.
