Police arrests harder and bank fraudsters in Jigawa

The police in Jigawa have arrested a 25-year-old herder, who allegedly trespassed into a farmland and destroyed crops worth 200 thousand naira at Takatsaba village, Suletankarkar Local Government Area of the state.

The command Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrest in a statement in Dutse yesterday.

He said the police also arrested his 73 cows and 13 sheep that strayed into the farmland on October 10.

Shiisu Adam noted that no life was lost during the incident, adding that the situation had been brought under control.

He said investigation into the matter is ongoing and efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects.

Meanwhile, Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old man, Abdullahi Maikudi and one Sirajo Habibu for allegedly defrauding bank customers in Dutse.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrest of the suspects to newsmen yesterday in Dutse.

He said the arrest followed complaints lodged by their victims that on Wednesday, one Abdullahi defrauded them after they went to a bank in Dutse to withdraw money through an ATM under the pretense of assisting them.

Shiisu Adam said the suspect changed their ATM card pins and withdrew the sums 50 thousand and 8 thousand naira from two different accounts respectively.

He added that police succeeded in arresting the suspect, who later mentioned one Surajo Habibu in Limawa village of Dutse Local Government Area as his accomplice.
