Pipeline explosion left 16 people death in Abia

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC) pipeline exploded leaving 16 people death in Osisioma Local Government Area, Abia.

The NNPC spokesperson, Udu Ughamadu, said the incident leading to the explosion of its System 2E pipeline network of Osisioma axis near Aba deport has been caused by suspected oil thieves who had intercepted petroleum flow from Port-Harcourt.

NNPC Managing Director, Maikanti Baru has described the loss of lives and destruction of property caused by the inferno as a huge loss to the nation.

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Commander, Benito Eze noted that 16 persons lives were cut short by the unfortunate incident.

He added that the officials of Abia fire service department, along side Corporation’s safety experts swung into action to contain and curb the inferno from escalating.

Stil on Abia, another seperate domestic fire has taken the lives of three others at a private resident in the same Local Government Area.
