Operation Safe Haven Engages Stakeholders for Peaceful 2025 Farming Season

In a bid to ensure a successful and peaceful 2025 farming season, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) has engaged stakeholders, farmers, and herders in Mangu, Plateau State. The General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation Safe Haven, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, emphasized the importance of preparing the minds of herders and farmers for a peaceful farming season ¹.

The theme of the engagement, “Consolidating on the Security Gains for a Peaceful Farming Season,” aims to foster peaceful coexistence among communities. Major General Oyinlola reiterated the commitment of 3 Division and OPSH to exploring non-kinetic strategies for peaceful coexistence.

Stakeholders, including traditional rulers, government officials, and community leaders, emphasized the need for tolerance and cooperation between farmers and herders. They advised revisiting past agreements on farming seasons to guide activities during the farming season.

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, represented by Rt Hon Titus Alams, encouraged the people to support government efforts in finding common ground for farmers and herders to operate.

The event was attended by top government officials, security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders. Operation Safe Haven has committed to providing security for displaced communities, enabling internally displaced persons to return to farming and boosting economic growth.
