Operation Puff Adder: Lalong assures Police of support

Governor of Plateau state, Simon Lalong, has assured the acting Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu, of his administration’s continued support of discharging the duties of curbing criminality in the state.

Speaking at the official launch of Operation Puff Adder, at the Plateau Police Command Headquarters, Jos, on Friday, Governor Lalong, said the innovation by the acting IGP was highly commendable.

Represented by deputy Governor, Sonny Tyoden, he said: “We shall give you (Police), all the necessary cooperation to succeed.”

Blueprint newspaper reports that the governor tasked the men and officers deployed in the operation to discharge their job seriously and uphold the confidence reposed on them.

According to him, the relative peace been enjoined in the state would only continued when citizens played their part in ensuring security of lives and property.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Austine Agbonlahor, represented by deputy Commissioner, Bature Umar, said in compliance with the IGPs directive, the Plateau Police Command was inaugurating its special squad for Operation Puff Adder to be supervised directly by the CP.

“The aim of the operation is to tackle crimes affecting Plateau State such as: Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Cultism, Banditry and Sara Suka among other crimes and to also prevent influx of criminal elements to the state considering the ongoing security operations in the neighbouring states likCP Agbonlahor appealed for the support, cooperation, understanding and collaboration of other security and law enforcement agencies in the state as well as members of the public for the continuous success of the operation, to ensure that, the state is safe and secured.e; Bauchi, Kaduna, Nasarawa and Taraba,” he said.
