The Nigeria Police Force says it has recorded another major breakthrough in its sustained offensive against violent crimes across the country when the personnel in a string coordinated intelligence-led operations neutralized three armed bandits during fierce gun battles in Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Nassarawa, and Niger States.
A statement by the force notes that the heavily armed criminals attempted to flee upon sighting the police, but were fatally subdued after intense exchange of gunfire. Several others escaped with gunshot wounds, abandoning their weapons in the process.
Police operatives recovered ten AK-47 rifles linked to a range of violent crimes including kidnapping, armed robbery, gunrunning, and cattle rustling.
Follow-up operations are ongoing to track down fleeing suspects believed to be behind deadly attacks on communities in those affected areas.
Meanwhile, The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirms the Force’s commitment to national security, stressing that the police will not relent in intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks.
The IGP urges Nigerians to support ongoing efforts by providing timely and credible information to nearby police formations or through official communication channels.
