The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed receiving an official petition from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over an alleged incident involving renowned Fuji musician, Mr. Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1. The petition accuses the artist of engaging in unruly behaviour that allegedly obstructed the safe operation of an aircraft, in contravention of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023.

According to the petition, the reported incident occurred on 5 August 2025 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. Details of the alleged conduct have not yet been made public, but the NCAA insists that the actions in question violated aviation safety protocols designed to ensure the secure operation of flights.

In a swift response, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, directed the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, to immediately commence a thorough investigation. The police have pledged to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that justice is served in line with established laws.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the NPF remains committed to maintaining safety and security in Nigeria’s aviation sector. He further assured aviation stakeholders of enhanced collaboration between law enforcement and industry regulators to ensure strict compliance with aviation laws and prevent incidents that could jeopardize passenger safety.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities emphasising that all parties involved will be given a fair hearing as the facts are established.
