The Kano State branch of the NNPP has announced the suspension of Senator Kawu Sumaila, who serves as the representative for the Kano South Senatorial District.
He was suspended together with three notable party members: Ali Madakin Gini, Sani Abdullahi Rogo, and Kabiru Alhassan Rurum.
This announcement comes less than 24 hours after Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), suggested that several prominent members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) may soon defect to the APC.
During a press conference held in Kano on Monday, Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, the party’s state chairman, made this announcement.
Dungurawa indicates that the members who were elected to the National Assembly under the NNPP banner have recently taken steps that are at odds with the core values and goals of the party.
