
The Nigerian Army has announced the killing of 16 Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.
According to a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the terrorists were neutralized during an operation in Kala-Balge Local Government Area of the state.
The statement read, “The gallant troops of Operation Hadin Kai, while on Operation HAKAMA III, in conjunction with other security agencies, have eliminated 16 terrorists belonging to the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Kala-Balge Local Government Area of Borno State.”
The troops also recovered several weapons and ammunition during the operation.
The Nigerian Army said the operation is part of its efforts to restore peace and security in the North East region, particularly in Borno State, which has been plagued by insurgency for over a decade.
The army also commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism in the face of danger, assuring that the operation would continue to ensure the safety of lives and property in the region.
