Nigeria Police Force Mourns Loss of Retired AIG Liman Shettima

The Nigeria Police Force is mourning the loss of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Liman Shettima, who passed away on July 5, 2025, at his residence in Jos, Plateau State. According to IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, “The Nigeria Police Force has lost a dedicated and accomplished officer, and the family of the late AIG Shettima has lost a loving patriarch.” AIG Liman Shettima served the Nigeria Police Force with distinction and dedication until his retirement on June 4, 1999.

During his illustrious career, he held various positions, including Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 6 Headquarters, Calabar, Commissioner of Police in charge of Katsina State Command, and CP Admin Polac. His decades of service left a lasting legacy of professionalism and commitment to nation-building. IGP Egbetokun prayed that “Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, while comforting his family during this difficult time.”

The IGP further expressed his hope, saying “May his legacy continue to inspire future generations of police officers.” This heartfelt message was conveyed by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, on July 6, 2025.
