Nigeria and the European Union (EU) are deepening ties in peace, security, and defence.

In a statement, Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, says his Ministry is enhancing internal security through identity management, border control, and an e-visa system for seamless processing.

During a meeting with EU Ambassador Gautier Mignot, Tunji-Ojo revealed that Nigeria has covered 60% of its land borders with an e-border solution and is working on full automation. He also announced plans for a Centralized Citizens Integrity and Document Authentication System (CCIDAS) to curb document fraud.

Ambassador Mignot reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to strengthening ties, highlighting security, migration, and development as key areas of cooperation. He emphasized that both parties recognize the urgency of tackling global challenges together.
