The Organizing Committee of the Muhammadu Sanusi II Colloquium is organizing a maiden colloquium to mark the 60th birthday of His Highness Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II the 14th Fulani Emir of Kano.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Secretary, Central Organizing Committee of the colloquium, Isma’il Auwal.

The colloquium, with the theme ‘Muhammadu Sanusi II: An Icon of Reforms,’ is aimed at celebrating the personality and achievements of the former central banker as an ‘Icon of Reforms’ across domains – as a public intellectual, a seasoned technocrat and a traditional and religious authority – who made remarkable contributions to transformation of northern Nigeria and the country at large.

The colloquium, which is intended to be an annual event, will hold on the 14th August 2021 at the Umaru Musa ‘Yar’adua Hall, located at Murtala Square in Kaduna City, by 9.00 am prompt.

The release further disclosed that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai is slated to deliver the Welcome Address at the event while His Royal Highness the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, will serve as the Chairman of the Occasion.

Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include state governors, traditional rulers, top government officials, businessmen, members of the organised private sector and academia, and other prominent people from across the country.

Speakers at the event include Prof. Andrea Bigaglia, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar and Malam Ibrahim Ado Kurawa, among a line-up of eminent scholars who will speak on diverse topics around the theme of the colloquium.

There will be a virtual pre-colloquium event on Friday 13th August where topical issues that affect northern Nigeria including Access to Justice for all in Northern Nigeria, entrepreneurship & innovation, gender and family, SDGs Framework will be discussed by key resource persons with vast years of experience on the topics.

The idea behind the colloquium is to showcase lessons from the life and works of Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II in order to inspire the youth – as the emerging leaders – in areas of capacity building, idea generation and knowledge sharing.
