A four year old girl was rescued by residents after a man allegedly lured her into uncompleted building and rape her.

The incident happened earlier this weekend at Babaya’u in Ardo-Kola local government area of Taraba state.

Witness told Sky Daily on Sunday that this is not the first time they have been suspecting the man of such act.

Sky Daily learnt that he was caught inside an uncompleted building more than three times but he denied all the accusations.

“He attempted to lure my daughter several times. In fact there was a time he whipped her for refusing to follow him. When confronted him, he lied that he sent her for an errand but she lost the money in the process.” Said Kabiru Muhammad, a butcher who was disturbed by the new development.

The suspect identified as Isah was said to have settled in the area first sleeping inside a nearby mosque before he was allowed to renovate and live inside an uncompleted building in the area.

“He came to us as an almajiri and traditional medicine seller who slept inside the nearby mosque until he was allowed to live in an uncompleted building. Now that his real identity has been unveiled, even the owner of the uncompleted building is now in trouble for allowing the suspect to stay in his house.” Said Malam Shu’aibu, a teacher from one of the local schools in the area.

Malam Shu’aibu lamented that allowing total strangers to settle easily without any proper scrutiny on who they are is one of the problems the area is facing.

“The suspect was actually in and out of court three times on same case of rape on minors age between four and five years.”

“If we had made proper investigation on him and his past records, he would have been expelled from the area before he touch anyone.” Said a tea seller who declined his name on print.

Sky Daily investigations further revealed that the suspect had been in the area for not long ago and is fond of calling small children under the pretext of sending them on errand.

“He will normally go inside an uncompleted building and wait for them. His abusive behavior was later discovered when one of them came out crying.” Said Tukur Idris, a father of two and resident of the area.

According to Abdullahi Shu’aibu, another resident of the area apparently worried by the incessant cases of sexual assault and violence against children, parents should monitor the movement of their children and wards rather than allowing them to roam freely.

“Parents should make it a duty to report any suspicious movement of persons around their areas, and should not allow complete strangers to mingle with their children or wards”. He said.

He further called for more stringent measures from government at all levels against the culprits.

Sky Daily also learnt that residents are still looking for the suspect Isah who hailed from Yobe state in order to hand him to authorities, and a committee will be set to work towards forestalling similar occurrence in the area.
