Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi state has strongly condemned the abduction of Augustine Madubiya, a 400-level student of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK), who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.
Tragically, a local resident, Malam Siddi Hussaini, was shot dead by the assailants during a brave attempt to rescue the student.
A statement issued by the Director of Security, Cabinet Office, Abdulrahman Zagga, said that the Kebbi state government has taken swift and proactive steps to ensure the safe release of the abductee.
Governor Idris has directed the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to collaborate with the University authorities to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped student.
The governor assured the parents and students of government’s unwavering commitment to their safety and security.
