As next year’s general elections draw near, candidates contesting for various elective positions in Nigeria have started touring to meet with the electorate to canvass for support and votes.

The improvement in quality and efficiency of the electoral system especially with the introduction of Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BAVAS) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has further brightened the chances of the candidates that have done well in their capacities as leaders.

Bauchi state is lucky enough since 2019 to have Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed CON (Kauran Bauchi) at the helm of affairs. This is because the face of the entire state has changed beyond recognition and expectations in just three years plus of his administration.

These achievements are attributed to his rich political experience as a former senator representing Bauchi south and later minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),

As a former member of the Federal Executive Council and his passion for development are some of the reasons for his unwavering successes in the last three years plus in Bauchi. His election as governor of Bauchi state is one of the best things that ever happened to the state since it creation in 1976. This is because health care service has been revamped, hospitals upgraded and reconstructed in the 20 local government areas, Toro local government area inclusive.

Other critical sectors like road networks have been provided massively and education got the deserving attention and security has been the priority of his administration.

The greatest achievements of Governor Bala Mohammed is his efforts at ensuring that the downtrodden benefit from the dividends of his administration policy thrust for the benefits of all and sundry. He has restored the lost glory of the state within the shortest possible time and his government’s massive infrastructural revolution within and outside the capital are the reasons out of many why his second term bid is non negotiable.

It is a fact that the local government areas have benefited more under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration than any other party since the return of democracy in 1999. Bauchi state in the last three years plus has demonstrated more commitments in the development of the rural areas that tilted towards the upliftment of the rural areas. Rural areas have benefited more under the present administration than any other government and it is the reason President Muhammadu Buhari recognised him and awarded him as the most infrastructural friendly governor in Nigeria.

His nomination by Mr President for this distinguished award for excellent performance in rural development by TBS Media in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) was greeted with cheers among family, friends and well wishers knowing that his performance in this regards is excellent. This is manifested in the provision of rural roads, rural health care facilities, construction and renovation of schools, agricultural interventions and the famous Kaura Economic Empowerment Program (KEEP).

This alone has lifted thousands of Bauchians out of poverty and this is why in the next coming elections, Kauran Bauchi only has commentators but not competitors.

Toro local government area has benefited more under this regime in the areas of construction and reconstruction of some critical infrastructures within the area council since his assumption of office. This is giving him an edge over other contemporary politicians who are good in name calling and name swinging. He has renovated our local government secretariat, the ongoing construction of Rimin Zayan -Dass road, rehabilitation and reconstruction of the abandoned Magama -Gumau -Rishi-Rahama to Saminaka bordering Kaduna State roads, construction of Rishi-Tulu road, rehabilitation of Toro General Hospital, upgrading of Rishi General Hospital and an award of the construction of New General Hospital in Gumau are few among too many projects one can glimpse through within the nooks and crannies of the local government council.

Apart from road construction and rehabilitation, many sons and daughters of the local government have been appointed into strategic government positions in the spirit of inclusivity, fairness and equity. Others are listed as beneficiaries of Kaura Empowerment Program initiative that has lifted many out of poverty and created millions of jobs to our teeming youths population. The local government has been under siege by some unscrupulous elements that kept it boiling at some point, the quick intervention of the governor as the chief security officer the state has extensively reduced the activities of these bandits, the first intervention and actions is securing our porous borders between Kano, Plateau and Kaduna states.

A land mark achievements of Governor Bala Mohammed in various sectors like health, education, security and infrastructural revolution are enough reasons to silence his spectators that are working down the street as contenders in the forthcoming governorship elections. Be as it may be, in Toro local government, we have no singe reason not to support Kauran Bauchi especially if antecedents are yardstick of winning elections. We are clamouring for more of such interventions from the government of Bauchi State and can only be sustained if Governor Bala Mohammed is re-elected the second term.
