Kano State Government has filed a five-count charges against Abdulmalik Tanko, the proprietor of Noble Kids School, who kidnapped and brutally killed his 5-year-old pupil, Hanifa Abubakar, alongside his two accomplices, Hashimu Isyaku and Fatima Jibrin before a high court in the state.
The state director of Public Prosecution, Aisha Mahmoud, disclosed this today when the three suspects were re-arraigned before a magistrate court sitting at Gidan Murtala.
She said the suspects were brought before Magistrate Muhammad Jibril, despite the fact that the court lacks the jurisdiction to try such a high-profile case, but to inform it that the state government had filed charges against them at the High Court.
Aisha Mahmoud added that the charges had been filed at the high court, before Justice Usman Na-Abba, under the directive of the state chief judge.
Meanwhile, detained former Kano State commissioner of Works, Muaz Magaji, will spend one more day in prison, following adjournment of his case to Friday.
Muaz Magaji, a critic of the governor of Kano State Abdullahi Ganduje, is facing a four-count charge, bordering on defamation of character, intentional insult, injurious falsehood and inciting disturbance against the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The magistrate had ordered that he be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case for ruling on the bail application.
In another news, the suspended chairman, Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhyi Magaji Rimin-Gado, challenged his suspension before the National Industrial Court.
Magaji Rimin-Gado instituted the suit challenging his suspension against the Kano State government and five others.
Joined as co-dependents in the suit are the Attorney General of Kano State, Kano State House of Assembly and Accountant General of Kano State.
