A Federal High Court in Kano issued an order restrining Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje-led Government from taking 10 billion Naira loan.
The loan which got the clearance of the state assembly, according to the state government would be used for CCTV camera installation in the state to boost security.
Responding to the suit filed by the Kano First Forum’s Chairman, Dr. Yusuf Shykh Ishaq Rabiu, the presiding judge, Justice A. M Liman, ordered the Kano state government to stay action pending determination of the case.
Those joined as respondents in the suit are the Governor of Kano State, Honourable Commissioner of Finance, Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Access Bank PLC, Federal Ministry of Finance, Debt Management Office, and Fiscal Responsiblity Commission.
The plaintiff argued that they objected to the borrowing because it did not follow the guidelines and norms that apply to loan transactions.
