A Kano State High Court, presided over by the Chief Judge, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, has issued an interim order restraining the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, from renovating the Nasarawa Mini Palace.

Bayero has been holding court at the palace since his return to the state following the dissolution of the emirates.

In the case, the plaintiffs are the state government, the state attorney general, and the Kano Emirate, while Bayero is the sole defendant.

The court order directed both parties to maintain the current state of the palace’s structural and architectural design pending the hearing and determination of the suit.

“That an order of interim injunction is hereby made restraining the defendant, his agents, privies, or anyone acting under the instruction or command of the defendant under whatever manner from demolishing, renovating, repairing, reconstructing, or refurbishing the property known as Gidan Sarki Nasarawa situated along State Road, Kano, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice before this court,” stated Justice Aboki.

According to the court document, seen by our reporter, the plaintiffs filed the application on September 9, supported by a 33-paragraph affidavit deposed by Matawallen Kano, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed.

The court also directed that the Emir be served with court processes through substituted means and set October 2 for the hearing of the motion on notice.
