Kaduna State Govt Suspends Weekly Markets, Bans Selling Of Petrol in Jerrycans

In effort to curtail insecurity, Kaduna State government has taken two drastic measures affecting Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Giwa, Igabi and Kajuru Local Government Areas. 

Samuel Aruwan, Commission for Security and Internal Affairs in the State relayed the decision to public on Monday. 

“After a thorough review of the security situation and recommendations put forward by the security agencies, the Kaduna State Government wishes to announce the suspension of all weekly markets in Birnin Gwari, Igabi, Giwa, Chikun and Kajuru local government areas with immediate effect,” Aruwan said in a statement. 

“The government has also banned the selling of petrol in jerrycans within and outside premises of petrol stations in the five local government areas listed, with immediate effect,” he added. 

Aruwan further urged citizens to cooperate with government as security personnel enforce compliance. 

Recently Zamfara State which is also affected by the spite of banditry and associated crimes has SkyDaily reported, adopted similar strategy to cut supply to the bandits in their hideout.
