Kaduna: Business activities shutdown over Zakzaky’s trial

There was apprehension among residents of Kaduna Metropolis as business activities were temporarily shutdown over the trial of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IM‎N) Leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky trial in the state.
Daily Trust observed that virtually all roads linking to the State High court venue of the trial were completely shutdown by security operatives.
Police vehicles attached with angry looking policemen with armed were stationed by the roadside.

It gathered that the security personnel were at the road as early as 8: am putting old tyres on the road to divert motorists.


The road shutdown include ‎busy Ibrahim Taiwo Road by Sheikh Gumi Central Market, Katsina road round about, Bida. Road and among all within the metropolis.

‎Few people were seen going into shops, Banks and filling stations along these roads.

Many workers were forced to trek to their offices located around that area as others remained at home to monitor the situation.


‎’I came out on my way to work without knowing what is happening only for me to see policemen along Katsina road round about asking us to change direction.

‘I wasted too much fuel in my car before getting to work. This whole thing is unfortunate,” a resident said.

On Tuesday the state Police Command through it Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo urged residents not to be apprehensive as the security men are only deployed to maintain law and order.

He reminded the residents that the law banning procession and demonstrations in the state is still in force.

‎The command asked the law-abiding citizens to go about their normal business.
