In a significant breakthrough, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, alias “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar to Nigeria to face charges for the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old student of Lead City University, Ibadan.
The extradition, which was completed on Saturday, April 19, 2025, is the result of a coordinated effort between the NPF, the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, and the Qatari Judicial Authorities.
According to investigations, Nnayereugo murdered Miss Onuwabhagbe at his residence in Lagos on July 13, 2023, and later fled the country, releasing a video online purporting to confess to the crime in a bid to derail investigations.
The suspect was declared wanted by the NPF Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on October 13, 2023, and an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his global apprehension. He was eventually tracked down to Doha, Qatar, where he was arrested in February 2025.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the diligence of INTERPOL NCB Abuja and extended appreciation to the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Government of Qatar, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their collaboration in securing Nnayereugo’s return.
“We assure the general public of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring that the suspect faces diligent prosecution, as part of our dedication to justice and the safety of all Nigerians,” IGP Egbetokun said.
The NPF has confirmed that Nnayereugo will face trial for the murder of Miss Onuwabhagbe, bringing closure to the family and justice to the victim.
