Mohamed Morsi, Egypt’s former presisdent Mohamed Morsi dies during court session, a state media reports.

Morsi was Egypt’s first democratically elected president who came to power in 2012 after the Arab spring of 2011 that ousted former military dictator Hosni Mubarak who rule Egypt for 30 years.

Morsi, 67, was democratically elected in 2012 after the 2011 Arab Spring saw the end of President Hosni Mubarak’s 30-year rule. He was then deposed following mass protests and a military coup in July 2013.

Morsi only served just one year out of his 4year mandate expected to end in 2016. He was overthrown in July, 2013 after mass protest in the country.
