Imo state governor, His Excellency Rt Hon. Emeka Nkemakolam Ihedioha has expressed his administration’s readiness to revive the dilapidated structures of the Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH).

The governor ably representated by his Deputy, His Excellency Engr. Alphonsus Gerald Irona, inspected Road to Imo Teaching Hospital located in Orlu, among other hospital facilities in order to access the situation.

The inspection of the dilapidated road and facilities at the Teaching Hospital followed the outcome of the meeting held between the Executive Governor Emeka Ihedioha and the Nigerian Medical Association, (NMA) Imo chapter, yesterday which led to the group calling off their two- month old strike.

It was learnt that the medical association during the meeting demanded for State Government’s urgent intervention on the dilapidated state of the road leading to IMSUTH which was abandoned for the past eight years by unknown contractors.

The Governor during the meeting promised that his administration will not only reconstruct the road leading to IMSUTH, but will also upgrade and construct more standardized health facilities to improve health services delivery in Imo state.
