The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested the Interim Chairman of Rimin Gado Local Government Council in Kano, Zangina Galadima Zango, Politics Digest reports.
Mr. Galadima was taken into custody by the ICPC to answer questions regarding an alleged diversion of funds by the State government through the 44 local government caretaker chairmen.
This development refutes rumors circulating in the media that the chairman had been kidnapped.
A source confirmed that he is currently in ICPC custody and may face prosecution on Monday.
It is worth recalling that the 44 local government caretaker chairmen, including the commissioner for local government, who also serves as the deputy governor of Kano, had earlier obtained an interim order restraining the commission from further investigation, harassment, or invitation by the anti-graft agency over the alleged case.
The Chairman remains in detention, while efforts to arrest the other local government chairmen have been unsuccessful, as they are reportedly on the run.
