Unknown gunmen attacked the convoy of Emir of Kauran Namoda, Sanusi Muhammad Asha, along Zaria to Funtua road, killing eight persons.
The attack occurred yesterday night.
The 70km Zaria to Funtua road has been a nightmare for travellers, especially at night.
There have been reported incidents of kidnapping and armed robbery along the road for a while.
The uncle of the Emir, Danjeka of Kauran Namoda, Abdulkarim Ahmad Asha, told newsmen that he received a phone call around 3am today that the Emir was attacked.
The victims are currently at a police formation in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina and all arrangements are on top gear to convey the remains of the victims to Kaura Namoda for burial.
