The embattled former chairman of Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-corruption Commission, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimingado has been allegedly assaulted by operatives of the commission on Wednesday evening.

The operatives according to sources were at the Sharada residence of the Rimingado to effect his arrest which he resisted since there was no arrest warrant.

The suspended chairman has earlier on shunned the invitation of the commission over allegations of land racketeering, reported by Mr. Isa Bayero, popularly known as Isa Pilot.

It’s allegedly reported that the operatives tore the suspended chairman’s clothes while dragging him.

The former antigraft boss was reportedly saved by his neighbours.

Magaji as reported SahelianTimes described the raid as an attempted kidnapping because according to him the said anti-graft operative lacked identification.

‘’There is even an existing court order that restrained the commission from arresting me,’’ Muhuyi said.

However, while confirming the incident, the acting chairman of the PCACC, Mahmud Balarabe, stated that the commission operatives were on a surveillance mission not to arrest Muhuyi as he claimed.

Balarabe denied the allegation of assaulting Muhuyi Magaji, stating that, to the best of his knowledge, no such situation existed.

“The operatives were at his residence, and after introducing himself as a police officer, Muhuyi told him to leave his premises and threatened to shoot the operative.

“Muhuyi then shot the tyres of the police officer’s car,” Balarabe said.
