
The family of Audu Innocent Ogbeh has announced the passing of the former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Adegbe Ogbeh, the eldest son, confirmed to NTA News that Chief Ogbeh died peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Saturday at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja.
During NTA’s visit to the Ogbeh residence, close family members and associates gathered to offer condolences.
Among the early callers was former Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.
Born on July 28, 1947, in Otukpo, Benue State, Ogbeh’s distinguished career spanned academia, agriculture, and politics, leaving an enduring legacy of integrity and service.
His family described him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose principled leadership touched countless lives and advanced Nigeria’s development.
Ogbeh served as Minister of Agriculture from 2015 to 2019 under President Muhammadu Buhari, where he championed agricultural reforms and food security initiatives.
He previously held ministerial roles under President Shehu Shagari during the Second Republic, serving as Minister of Communications and Steel Development in the early 1980s.
His political career also included serving as PDP National Chairman from 2001 to 2005 and Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly.
A graduate of King’s College, Lagos, Ahmadu Bello University, and the University of Toulouse, France.
Ogbeh’s contributions to Nigeria will be remembered for their lasting impact.
