In response to the recent severe flooding in Maiduguri, Borno State, officers and men from the Operations Department of the Federal Fire Service have launched a series of heroic rescue operations to save lives and provide critical assistance to affected communities.
Since the floods began, the Federal Fire Service has deployed rapid response teams and specialized equipment to assist in evacuating residents trapped in their homes, vehicles, and other flooded areas. Several people have been rescued from life-threatening situations, including the elderly, children, and those with special needs.
The CG of the Federal Fire Service,Engr Jaji O. Abdulganiyu MIFire.E, MNSE, commends the officers and men for their bravery and quick action: “Our personnel have shown incredible courage and commitment in these challenging circumstances. We are doing everything within our power to save lives and ensure the safety of residents in affected by this disaster Maiduguri.”
The Federal Fire Service is coordinating its efforts with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (BOSEMA), local government authorities, and other humanitarian partners to provide swift response and efficient management of the situation. Together, they are conducting joint operations to assess damage, deliver emergency supplies, and facilitate further rescue missions as needed.
Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to heed evacuation orders, stay informed through official channels, and contact the Federal Fire Service emergency hotline for assistance. The public is also advised to refrain from crossing flooded roads and to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period.
The Federal Fire Service remains committed to protecting lives and property and will continue its rescue efforts until the situation is brought under control.
