The former Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose has refutes allegations levelled against him by the anti graft agency, seek to be charged to court.
Ayo Fayose, who stormed the EFCC Abuja office in a galore of supporters, a dramatic entrance inscribed “EFCC I am Here” on his T-shirt, in response to invitation letter sent to him by the anti graft agency over an alleged misappropriation of public funds.
Lere Olayinka, Fayose media aid laments that today is the former governor’s second day in EFCC custody, he believes that his boss spirit is high and his will remains very strong.
He said: “Nigerians should recall that in 2016, operatives of this same EFCC attempted to seal up a guest house located at Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja, claiming that it belonged to Fayose. Whereas, the building belonged to a retired army general.”
“However, since the EFCC is only being used to settle political scores, it is more comfortable with keeping Fayose in custody so as to achieve the agenda of keeping him out of circulation and embarking on its usual media trial.
“But on this Fayose’s matter, they have picked on a wrong customer and no amount of intimidation, blackmail and harassment will break his resistance to tyranny, agent of which the EFCC has become.” He added.
Olayinka stated that the anti graft agency has already fabricated lies and concocted stories that it discovered houses bought by public funds under Ayo Fayose’s name.
He added that the anti graft agency should be professional, conduct a thoroughly investigation in evidence gathering, not subjecting Nigerians to media trials, which is irresponsible and waste of tax payers money.
“If truly EFCC have an overwhelming evidence at its disposal as it claimed, the most reasonable thing to do is to charged Ago Fayose to court and get him prosecuted.” He said.
