The EFCC has started investigating two individuals in Kano for allegedly possessing fake $899,800.

The individuals under suspicion, Abubakar Hussaini (42) and Sahabi Adamu (53), were initially stopped by officers from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Maiduguri Road in Wudil, Kano State.

They were traveling in a commercial Golf 3 Station Wagon heading towards Kila Village in the Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

During the search, the NDLEA team found the alleged counterfeit currency hidden within a Maggi Star seasoning box. The suspects, along with the evidence, were then turned over to the EFCC for further investigation.

Initial investigations showed that the suspects were carrying the fake currency to Kila Village, where they planned to meet someone named Muhammad Walo. He was supposed to connect them with Mallam Mashiru, a self-proclaimed spiritualist who claimed he could turn counterfeit dollars into real money using ritual prayers.
