Alhassan Ado Doguwa, a federal lawmaker from Kano State, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins the state in the 2027 general elections.
His statement comes in response to remarks by Rep. Abdulmumini Jibrin, another Kano lawmaker, who described Doguwa as a “political liability” and a threat to the APC’s chances in the region.
Speaking in Abuja on Sunday, Doguwa dismissed Jibrin’s comments, asserting his significance to the party and expressing his interest in leading the APC’s campaign efforts in Kano for the upcoming elections.
“I respectfully request the leadership of our party to allow me to coordinate and serve as the Director-General of the Kano State Campaign Project in 2027,” Doguwa stated.
He emphasized his value to the APC both in Kano State and at the national level, countering Jibrin’s allegations.
“I am not a political liability in Kano; I am an asset, a source of pride for the APC both in the state and the country,” he added.
Doguwa, who represents the Tudun-Wada/Doguwa Federal Constituency and chairs the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), is the only APC member in the House of Representatives from the Kano South Senatorial District.
The tension between Doguwa and Jibrin, who represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency under the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), has heightened, with Jibrin previously accusing Doguwa of hindering peace efforts in Kano State.
As the 2027 elections draw near, the rivalry between these two lawmakers highlights the intense political competition in Kano, a crucial battleground for both the APC and NNPP.
