Dogara calls for more Nigeria-KSA diplomatic relations

The speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara has said there is need for strengthening an existing cordial relationship between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, KSA, adding that the Gulf country was one of the first to engage in full diplomatic relationship with Nigeria when it attained independence in 1960.

The speaker was ably represented at the occasions by Honourable Abdullah Mahmud Gaya, a member representing Kano’s Albasu, Ajingi and Gaya federal constituency

He made the remark at the this year’s iftar organised by the  Ambassador of  Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Nigeria Mr Adnan Bin Mahmoud Bin Muhammad which was held at his  official residence in Abuja.

Hon. Gaya while delivering his speech on behalf of the Speaker noted that prior to 1960 the “relationship had existed in an informal way, dating back to hundreds of years when Muslim pilgrims embarked on tough journeys to the city of Mecca and Madinah for Pilgrimage.”

Hon Abdullah Mahmud Gaya added that Speaker of House of has commended the Kingdom for sustaining and consolidating the age-long relationship between the two countries,

He further added that leadership and the members of  National Assembly appreciate Kingdom for serving the lives of two innocent Nigerians arrested for drugs trafficking related offences but whose innocence were later established and the cartels and syndicates  sneaking illicit drugs into their luggage, particularly the cartel discovered to be operating at one of the  International Airports in Nigeria were arrested.

According to Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya, the Speaker of the 8th Assembly Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara acknowledges the tireless work of Ambassador and staff of the KSA embassy for the work they do toward promoting Muslim cultures and traditions in the country.

In his closing remarks, the Speaker also congratulates Mr. Adnan Bin Mahmoud Bin Muhammad for successfully hosting  this year’s Ramadan iftar.
