Deputy Secretary General, United Nations meets Northern Governors in Washington DC

Northern Governors presently in the United States of America led by the Chairman of the North West Governors Forum and Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umaru Radda, today attended a strategic meeting hosted by the Acting Nigeria Ambassador to the United States H.E.Uzoma Emenike.

The Meeting which also involved a high powered delegation from the United Nations was held at the Nigeria Embassy in Washington DC.

Focus of the meeting, according to sources in the United States was to among others, foster partnership and deepen collaboration in key sectors; promoting socio economic development and addressing regional challenges effectively through, connectivity, ICT, Energy, Food Security, Education for All, Climate Change and Financing among others.

The United Nations Delegation at the meeting was led by Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, who also doubles as the Chair of the Sustainable Development Goals SDG.

Others members of her team include Mr Gatete, Executive Secretary, Economic Commission for Africa ECA, Ms Damilola of the Sustainable Energy for All, Ms Ahunna, the UNDP Regional Director for Africa, Ms Laura Jocelyn, Director, Food and Agriculture Organization FAO, and Mr Samaila Zubairu, President of Africa Finance Corporation.


Governors of jigawa Zamfara, Kaduna, Sokoto and Kebbi as well as those of Niger and Benue states respectively actively participated in the meeting.
